an experiential workplace pop-up and living-lab focused on human-centric design in the work environment.
2018 Pollinator @ 1010 NW Flanders - pre-opening
The original Pollinators...
the pollinator concept
Imagine a myriad of beautifully hand-crafted furniture and art pieces from local makers and designers, alongside cutting-edge commercial furnishings, accessories and work tools from both minor and major manufacturers like Allsteel, Coalesse, Haworth, Herman Miller, Kimball, and Steelcase to name a few.
Next, envision these products and works of art intermixed with biophilia and other well-being components, all combined into a single non-sales environment, and displayed in a variety of activity-based and other thematic work settings.
Last, add in a curious mix of people made up of workplace strategists, HR professionals, interiors and other designers, makers, architects, brokers and end-users, and give them opportunity to pilot the products and interact with the space.
the pollinator purpose
Pollinator's mission is to foster education and awareness as to the significance of human-centric work environments, through the cross-pollination of concepts, communities and cultures.
Pollinator first took form in Spring of 2017, as a place for learning and sharing about the future of work, minus the sales showroom. Pioneered by local business leaders and Workplace Evolutionaries (WE) Hub leaders in Portland, OR, and along with the sponsorship of the International Facility Manager Association (IFMA) and WE Global, among many others, this unique initiative came into reality in a stunning historical building in PDX’s high-profile Pearl District during Design Week 2017 and remained intact throughout the month of May.
It's a PDX born and bred concept…but bound for more.
